Nuisance Calls See Largest Growth Over Past 3 Years

Nuisance voice calls to mobile users has seen the largest growth in complaints over the past 3 years, according to the latest consumer survey data compiled by MEF. 2024 saw a total of 46% of smartphone users affected by spam calling, compared to 43% in 2022. However, spam messaging still sees the single largest number of complaints – affecting 47% of users in 2024, up 2 percentage points since 2022. Fraudulent text messages (that aim to collect sensitive information) also saw a 2-point growth to 38% this year.
